Update on the Elimination Chamber Intercontinental Championship Match
According to multiple sources, Rusev injured his ankle badly at the Tuesday Smackdown Live tapings. It is being reported that Bray Wyatt will replace Rusev inside the chamber. This is huge news especially since Rusev was my pick to win the IC strap at Elimination Chamber. It is very unfortunate for Rusev because I was confident that the WWE was going to give him the Intercontinental Championship and let him run as a monster heel. I was looking forward to the Ziggler/Rusev feud that was starting to build up.
If they had added someone like Stardust to the mix, I would have to go back to my original pick of Sheamus. The WWE has decided to add Bray Wyatt into the mix. I am going to get real crazy with this new choice and choose Bray Wyatt to crab walk out of Elimination Chamber as the Intercontinental Championship. I know Bray Wyatt has been MIA as of late but I can’t think of a better way to make him credible again. He needs to go on from there and have a monster heel run with the title where he does not lose. (Just like I wanted with Rusev) If WWE creative wants to get real rowdy then they need to have Harper and Rowan take out Los Matadores, enter the chamber, and win the WWE Tag Team Titles. Then reform the Wyatt Family as a dominant stable. (not one that is fed to Cena when he needs to look good)
New Winner: Bray Wyatt win Intercontinental Championship
Possible Shocker: Harper & Rowan win Tag Team Championships
Neville vs Bo Dallas
As stated earlier, I am shocked to see Neville relegated to a feud with Bo Dallas after making such an impactful debut on the main roster. (See “The Enforcer’s Blog for my views on Neville) If Bo Dallas was a more credible opponent, I wouldn’t be so harsh on this match. All I’ve seen Bo Dallas do over the past few months is come out, cut a promo then get squashed against whoever he is wrestling. I do however, bo-lieve that Bo Dallas could be a compelling character that the WWE creative team should be able to do great stuff with (We talked about it on the podcast. Have Bray Wyatt break him down slowly over a few months and have him join the Wyatt Family)(Just an idea creative, just an idea) However if they want to make Bo Dallas a character that stands on his own then he needs a win over a great wrestler. As much as I want Neville to keep his momentum going, I bo-lieve that Bo Dallas needs this win more then Neville. So my prediction is that Bo Dallas SNEAKS out of Elimination Chamber with a win over Neville. (Remember Neville is working the knee injury angle right now).
Winner: Bo Dallas
Welcome to the very first edition of the “The Enforcer’s Corner”. My name is Nikos Kosmopoulos and I will be writing about everything pro wrestling. You may be asking what does that entail? My blogs will include my opinions and comments on PPV predictions, current storylines in the WWE, other wrestling promotions including TNA, ROH, NJPW and lots of other great stuff. You can also find my opinions on all sorts of wrestling topics on the Casual Mark Podcast, which is conveniently found on iTunes, SoundCloud, YouTube, Facebook, and Audible.com. So you should probably go download it.
To kick off my blog writing experience, I wanted to start with something simple since it is my first go at this. I have decided that I will give my Elimination Chamber predictions for the current card and I will add any predictions for matches that are added in the next couple days to my blog later. For those of you who are not in the loop, the powers that be decided randomly to bring back the Elimination Chamber as a WWE Network exclusive PPV (available for an undisclosed monthly sum). I believe this was a desperation move by the WWE to increase their WWE Network subscriptions. It just seemed odd to have a PPV two weeks after having another PPV. However, I can’t really complain since this card is better then Payback which was only 6 days ago. With only two weeks to build up storylines, it will be exciting to see how The Elimination Chamber PPV plays out.
As far as predictions go, I really have not been having the best luck. The Enforcer did not have a good night with predictions for WrestleMania (3-7) as Frank (sitting in as always) cleaned up with an impressive 9-1 mark. The tides slowly started changing with some solid predictions at Extreme Rules and got even better when I was the only member of The Casual Mark Podcast team to correctly predict Seth Rollins retaining the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Payback. No big deal. Here are The Enforcer’s predictions for Elimination Chamber.
(random comments/predictions) (just so your not confused) Enjoy!
Triple Threat Match for the WWE Divas Championship
Nikki Bella (c) vs. Paige vs Naomi
If you have been following the podcast, by now you have figured out that our feelings on the Diva’s division have been pretty unenthusiastic over the past few months, except when it comes to Natalya. Frank and myself adore Natalya. (Frank, I love how they got rid of the Road Warrior looking thing she wore after we said they should, weird?) Readers, you would know all of this if you listened to our podcast, which can be found on iTunes right now! Go! Sorry any who this match for me is only interesting because Paige is involved. Personally I am very happy to see Paige back in action. Aside from her debut, the WWE creative dept. have dropped the ball with Paige, and the hope is that they decide to properly push her and give her a much deserved run with the Divas title. She should stop the “This is my house” chant though. (Not a fan) The Bella’s on the other hand are just tiring to watch and they have been for quite some time. They are super stale and need to either come back with a new gimmick or just disappear for a while. As for Naomi, I still have not bought into the tough girl act. During our podcast we discussed how Total Diva’s has ruined the perception of some of the characters in Diva’s division. Every week we watch Naomi be the nice girl next-door type, which makes it hard to take her seriously as a rough and tough bad girl. However, my prediction is that Naomi walks out the Diva’s champion with help from Tamina Snuka. If this all plays out we will get the Paige vs. Naomi feud that has been teased since Naomi took out Paige last month.
Winner: Naomi pins Nikki Bella to win WWE Diva’s Championship
Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Tag Team Championships
The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) (c) vs. Cesaro & Kidd vs. The Lucha Dragons (Kalisto and Sin Cara) vs. The Ascension (Konnor and Victor) vs. Los Matadores (Diego and Fernando) vs. The Prime Time Players (Titus O’Neil and Darren Young)
I wanted to start off by saying that on our podcast this was exactly the chamber match that I wanted and predicted (even the part about both partners in the same pod). I was hoping for the inclusion of Harper and Rowan into this match but I guess I will have to live with Los Matadores instead (yay!) The New Day has been the biggest surprise over the past six weeks. They stole the show at Extreme Rules and Payback. I love the dynamic between Big E, Kofi and Woods as they can generate some legit heat from the crowd. Obviously, I can’t just give them props as Cesaro & Kidd played huge roles in both of those matches being as successful as they were. The only other team in this match that I consider serious contenders for the Tag Team Championships is the Lucha Dragons. That is why I wanted Harper and Rowan in the match. I feel this dynamic would give it a little more unpredictability. As for The Ascension, Los Matadores and The Prime Time Players better luck next time. My prediction is that the match comes down to a fight between The New Day, Cesaro & Kidd and The Lucha Dragons. This will be the match of the night just like the previous two pay per views. The Lucha Dragons will eliminate Cesaro & Kidd and then come so close to winning the titles but The New Day will prevail victorious and retain the WWE Tag Team Championships. Hopefully from here on out we see The New Day feud with The Lucha Dragons.
Winner: The New Day pin The Lucha Dragons to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships
Elimination Chamber Match for the Vacant Intercontinental Championship
R-Truth vs. Sheamus vs. King Barrett vs. Ryback vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev
This is the match that I have had the hardest time deciding who would walk away champion. They could go a ton of different routes with almost all of these participants. The only contestant that has no chance of winning is R-Truth. The Enforcer wants to meet the person in the WWE creative dept. who decided that having R-Truth instead of Stardust was a novel idea because it was not. R-Truth has not been relevant in three or four years. I believe Stardust’s match with Cena during the U.S Open Challenge was proof enough that he belongs in the Intercontinental Championship hunt.
It was very surprising to see the omission of Neville from this match. Neville has been one of the most exciting wrestlers to watch over the past month or so. He has victories over King Barrett and Sheamus under his belt, was runner up at the KOTR tournament and he took John Cena to the max on Raw. I am baffled to see him delegated to a feud with Bo Dallas at the moment. Here we see creative once again not doing anything meaningful with great talent (what a shocker).
I had previously stated in Episode 6 of The Casual Mark Podcast (conveniently found on iTunes, SoundCloud, YouTube, Facebook and Audible.com) that I thought that Sheamus would win the Intercontinental Title in the Elimination Chamber. However, Mondays Raw shifted my opinion on what I believe will happen in the chamber. I know it’s only been a week but the rivalry between Ziggler and Rusev over Lana’s allegiance intrigues me. I have always liked Ziggler and was super pumped for his future after Survivor Series. Yet, the powers that be decided to completely halt all his momentum coming out of that PPV. Same with Rusev, he was built as a monster only to be fed to Cena three consecutive times. If properly done, I believe this could be a feud that could steal some upcoming events. The potential is there, creative needs to just not screw it up, which I know is asking a lot lately. I believe it will come down to Ziggler and Rusev with Rusev pulling off the win to become the new Intercontinental Champion. Hopefully from there Ziggler and Rusev continue to feud over Lana and the Intercontinental Championship.
Winner: Rusev pins Ziggler to win the vacated Intercontinental Championship
John Cena vs. Kevin Owens
Ever since John Cena defeated Rusev at WrestleMania to win the U.S Title, he has defended the title weekly. By defeating the likes of Dean Ambrose, Stardust, Rusev, Sami Zayn, Neville, and Kane, John Cena has brought back prestige to the U.S. Title. It has easily become my favorite title that is currently being defended.
This past week on Raw, Kevin Owens answered the John Cena US Open Challenge. However, he did not come out to wrestle. He came out to let the WWE universe and John Cena know that he was ready for the big time and that he did not care about Cena or the WWE Universe. Not only did Kevin Owens hold his own on the mic against Cena, he gave him a malicious pop-up power bomb to finish it all off. He stood tall over Cena and it was later announced that the two would do battle at Elimination Chamber.
This match intrigues me for many reasons. First of all it is the main roster debut of Kevin Owens and it doesn’t get any better than a PPV match against the company’s biggest star. Secondly, John Cena has momentum coming off of three huge victories over Rusev and has been successful at defending his US Title in the open challenges. Finally and probably the most important factor, is that the match is NOT for the U.S Title. The fact is that the WWE needs to start establishing new stars now, and I don’t believe they can wait around any longer. I do believe that Kevin Owens comes out of Elimination Chamber looking stronger then ever. Owens controls most of the match with Cena getting in his moves as well. I believe Cena wins via DQ after Owens won’t stop beating Cena down in the corner. He will finish the night with a pop-up power bomb, and will stand tall over Cena. NXT Champion is HERE!!!!!!!!!! (I was torn between the DQ finish and Owens winning clean, I know I’m nuts)
Winner: John Cena via DQ.
Real Winner: Kevin Owens
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Seth Rollins w/J&J Security (c) vs. Dean Ambrose
This is a match that I have been waiting for since last October. We never got a true finish to the Rollins/Ambrose feud that was red-hot at the time. To make things even better, this match is for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Ambrose was able to force the authority into giving him a title match against Rollins after threatening to bash Rollins head in over the “concrete” bricks on Raw.
Dean Ambrose has been receiving a ton of fan support as of late. His pop at Extreme Rules was arguably the loudest of the night. Even at Payback when pitted against Reigns at fans chanted for Ambrose. He personally is my favorite wrestler currently on the roster. If you listen to the podcast, I have not been shy of my support for Ambrose ever since we did our first podcast in December. I enjoy the hell out of his promos, and enjoy watching him wrestle. His move-set is diverse and he elicits a reaction from the crowd that not many wrestlers on the roster can match right now.
Seth Rollins aka The Architect has been an excellent champion up to this point. I know a few of my fellow podcast team members disagree with me but I’m The Enforcer so I don’t really care what they say. His promos are enjoyable and they get the point across that he is best for business. His matches have been phenomenal (he stole the show at The Royal Rumble) for the most part aside from Extreme Rules but that was more of a booking problem than quality of match. He carries the title with swagger and knows how to get under the crowds skin. Sooner rather then later, I hope we see him shake J&J security and defend the title with more bravado going forward.
This will be a match that has potential to be the best on the card if they give Rollins/Ambrose enough time to put together a great match without interference all match long from J&J Security. The crowd will be with Ambrose and rooting hard against Rollins so hopefully they can use that energy to put on an unbelievable match. I do believe that Rollins will retain the WWE Heavyweight Championship in dramatic fashion with this crazy prediction. Kane and Reigns both stick their nose into this match. Reigns takes out Kane and Ambrose will have Rollins beat but Reigns costs Ambrose the match with a superman punch. (We find out on Raw, Reigns doesn’t want anyone taking the title away from Rollins but himself because Rollins took away his big moment/mini heel turn). That way Reigns and Ambrose can feud over the next few months and friendships can be tested. I do not believe that Rollins is losing the title until SummerSlam when I believe The Beast Incarnate comes to take what is rightly his.
Winner: Seth Rollins pins Dean Ambrose to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
I wanted to end my first entry by thanking all of the people who support the Casual Mark Podcast via iTunes, SoundCloud, Facebook, YouTube and our wonderful sponsor Audible.com. We are slowly growing as a podcast and we truly appreciate all of the support we have received over the past five months. Enough of the mushy stuff, those are my predictions and I’m sticking to them. I cannot wait for episode seven to tell you all I told you so especially that damn Frank character. This has been fun and I will see you soon with another edition of ‘The Enforcer’s Corner’. Stay classy IWC.
